Newcastle United will lock horns with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday as they focus on securing a positive result on the road in the Premier League. The Mapgies managed to earn a solid 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao recently, which should give them a ton of confidence ahead of this game.

Eddie Howe will set his men up in a 4-3-3 formation and could be forced to make one change to his first team for this clash. Jacob Murphy is expected to play from the start of this game as Anthony Gordon continues to recover from his hip injury.

Defence

Nick Pope will function in between the sticks for the Magpies after keeping a clean sheet in his last appearance. Sven Borman will operate alongside Malick Thiaw at the centre of the Newcastle backline as they focus on keeping a good shape when defending inside their half.

Kieran Trippier will hope to impress as the right-back, while Dan Burn hopes to impress on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.

Fabian Schar and Lewis Hall will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Howe could opt for a midfield comprised of Joelinton, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes once again as they focus on winning the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park.

James Ramsey, Lewis Miley and Joe Willock will have to be content with a place on the bench as they await their chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Harvey Barnes will hope to make a difference for the Magpies on the left flank, while Jacob Murphy looks to prove his worth as the right-sided wide player.

Nick Woltemade will lead the line for the Tyneside club up top. He would be eager to get his name on the scoresheet after failing to score in midweek.

Anthony Elanga will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if needed.
