Nabil Bentaleb (31) is unlikely to remain at Lille OSC this summer, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Bentaleb’s return last season, following a cardiac arrest over the previous summer, was one of the stories of the season. Nonetheless a bit-part player as he looked to safely build up his fitness, he has established himself as a key player this season under Bruno Genesio.
In all competitions, he has played 35 times, netting twice and registering two assists. Having represented Algeria once again during the Autumn, he will have designs on going to the FIFA World Cup with the Fennecs this summer.
But his future at club level has now been thrown into question. His contract with Lille is up at the end of the current season, and it is L’Équipe’s understanding that, at this stage, an extension is unlikely. There is interest from clubs across Europe and from Saudi Arabia.
