Naci Ünüvar leaves Ajax for Eredivisie rival | OneFootball

Ajax announced today that the club have mutually agreed to terminate Naci Ünüvar’s (21) contract in connection with his transfer to FC Twente.

The 21-year-old attacker’s contract with Ajax was set to run until June 30, 2026, but it has been agreed that he will join the Enschede club with immediate effect.

The forward spent the past six months on loan at Espanyol and was originally expected to stay with the Spanish side until the end of the current campaign. However, with this move, that loan has come to a premature end. Ünüvar was on loan at FC Twente last season, after the 2022-23 season saw him loaned to the Turkish club Trabzonspor.

Zaandam-born Ünüvar made his debut for Ajax’s first team on January 22, 2020, during a Cup match against SV Spakenburg (W7-0). In total, the Turkey U21 international played three official matches for Ajax’s first team.

“Naci expressed his desire to return to the Netherlands, and he had a positive experience in Enschede last season,” said Ajax technical director Alex Kroes. “By resolving this situation in collaboration with the clubs and the player himself, we have created an outcome that satisfies all parties. This way, he can take the next step in his football career. We wish him all the best for the future!”
