At a press conference on Saturday, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann revealed part of his starting lineup for Sunday’s World Cup warm-up friendly against Finland.
The DFB coach confirmed that Felix Nmecha will start alongside Aleksandar Pavlović in central midfield.
Further forward, 18-year-old Bayern prodigy Lennart Karl will make his first start for Germany after impressing in training, while Deniz Undav will lead the line in the absence of Kai Havertz, who will play in the Champions League final with Arsenal on Saturday evening.
In addition to Havertz, Manuel Neuer will also miss the match as he continues his recovery from injury, meaning Oliver Baumann will start in goal.
Nagelsmann also underlined that in the first of two pre-World Cup friendlies – the other against the United States next week – he does not want to make too many experiments.
“We don’t have much time. We are trying to quickly get into rhythm. We will see many of the players who can also start in the first World Cup match,” he said.
