Right now given the other priorities set to be decided in the upcoming transfer window it would be a surprise to see the Premier League champions finance another left-back deal.

There are some promising youngsters in that position from the youth and academy ranks - including talents currently out on loan. We could see Luke Chambers, Owen Beck or Clae Ewing given some minutes in that position next season if Kerkez is absent.

More likely however is the return of Kostas Tsimikas to feature as understudy for the final season before his contract expires in 2027.

That’s according to a report from Lewis Steele - who also questions whether the Greek will be good enough to hold down a spot in this Liverpool squad next season.

“With left back Robertson moving on, will Liverpool sign a replacement? “At the moment, it feels like the Greece international will return as the second-choice to Milos Kerkez. Is he good enough for that, though?”

Tsimikas, 29, joined Roma last summer in a season-long loan deal with no obligation attached.

But the left-sided defender has struggled for form and consistency in Serie A - with Roma not intending to sign him on a permanent deal no matter the circumstances.

Therefore it seems apparent that Slot will reintegrate the title-winner into his squad - allowing Hughes to spend some of his transfer budget elsewhere.

Liverpool need centre-backs and wide attackers - meaning any money saved on a left-back in the event of Robertson’s departure can be better deployed elsewhere.
