Several Ligue 1 clubs have taken an interest in signing Fiorentina winger Jonathan Ikoné (26), according to a report this Monday from L’Equipe. The France international is not a regular starter under the tutelage of Fiorentina head coach Raffaele Palladino and several Ligue sides are tempted to offer Ikoné a way back into France. Ikoné is yet to register a single goal contribution in Serie A, although he logged four goals and one assist in the Conference League. Ikoné joined Fiorentina from Lille three years ago in a €15m switch. He is tied with a contract set to expire in 2026.
The outlet understands that Nantes have submitted a bid to sign Ikoné, without mentioning whether Les Canaris have sent a contractual offer to the 4-time France international or a transfer bid to Fiorentina. Nantes are in the market for a right-sided winger. They seemingly pulled out of a deal to sign Reims’ Amine Salama. The race to sign Ikoné is just beginning as Ligue 1 rivals RC Strasbourg and Rennes are also interested.
RC Lens are also reportedly in the race, although it would be a surprise to see Ikoné, who won the 2020-2021 Ligue 1 with Lille OSC, join Les Dogues‘ archrivals. Foreign teams as well as outfits from Qatar and Saudi Arabia are also monitoring Ikoné’s situation.
