Serie A refereeing chief Gianluca Rocchi has suspended Maurizio Mariani following Saturday’s controversial clash between Napoli and Inter Milan.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, assistant referee Daniele Bindoni shares the same fate.
Maurizio Mariani flopped in one of the most high-stakes matches in Serie A.
Indeed, his first-half error led to Napoli’s 3-1 victory as he unfathomably decided to award a non-existent penalty to the Partenopei.
Bindoni shoulders part of the blame, considering he was the one to suggest the penalty decision to Mariani.

It wasn’t the first time this season that Inter Milan have fallen victim to referees’ contentious decisions.
Before a ‘soft’ penalty call at the Maradona Stadium, another officiating error cost the Nerazzurri points in September’s Derby d’Italia against Juventus.
Meanwhile, Mariani must now pay the price for his costly mistake, joining Bindoni on the sidelines.
Indeed, Gianluca Rocchi has decided to enforce accountability, resulting in the 43-year-old’s immediate suspension.
Therefore, he will not be in contention for the midweek round, though he could be on the pitch next weekend.
As for Bindoni, he will not return to action by the end of November after a calamitous display in Naples.
