Napoli and Atletico Madrid target Esteban Lepaul says he will stay at Rennes | OneFootball

Esteban Lepaul (26), despite a stellar debut season at Stade Rennais, says that he has no designs on leaving the club, despite interest from some of Europe’s elite.

Lepaul is currently the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 19 goals. It looks unlikely that he will be caught in the race for the Golden Boot, however, it was not enough for him to be nominated for the UNFP Awards. But his form has been enough for a couple of Europe’s top clubs to come sniffing. As per a report from Foot Mercato, Atletico Madrid are interested in the Frenchman, whilst Atletico Madrid recently made an enquiry about the prolific goalscorer.

It is thought that Rennes value Lepaul at €30m, however, the player himself has no designs of leaving the club this summer. “My future is at Rennes. There are objectives that I hope will be reached. I think that, for me, the next step is to have a full season with a club that is playing in Europe. So it fits perfectly. I think I need to back it up with a season in Europe,” said Lepaul. 

As things stand, Rennes are on course to qualify for the UEFA Europa League, although they are just two points off in the qualification rounds of next season’s UEFA Champions League.
