Napoli confirmed on Thursday that Antonio Conte has left after two years in charge, in keeping with a two-year pattern to his coaching spells since 2014. Massimiliano Allegri is close to taking over.
The club said in a statement that they thanked Conte and his staff for their work and wished them well for the future. Napoli finished runners-up to Inter Milan in Serie A.
Under Conte, Napoli won the Scudetto and the 2025 Italian Super Cup.
The former Chelsea manager is expected to take charge of Italy. The national side are not qualified for the World Cup for the third time in a row.
Conte previously led the Azzurri from 2014 to 2016. Massimiliano Allegri comes off a difficult season with AC Milan, who finished fifth in Serie A and will miss the next Champions League.
