Nasser al-Khelaïfi denies FIFA bid to challenge Gianni Infantino in 2027 | OneFootball

Nasser al-Khelaïfi has ruled out running for FIFA president in 2027, a spokesperson stating he has no ambition, intention or interest in the role, and that he will instead continue to support global and European football bodies discreetly and constructively.

The PSG president, in post since 2011, had been touted by some as a potential successor to Gianni Infantino amid a turbulent few days for FIFA governance.

The backdrop is Infantino's recently revealed push to create a FIFA-linked commercial company, a proposal that has provoked strong opposition within European football and prompted UEFA to threaten a World Cup boycott.

Al-Khelaïfi is close to Aleksander Ceferin, sits on UEFA's executive committee and also leads the EFC, the association representing more than 850 clubs.

Across Europe, the plan has drawn a wave of criticism and unease, with FIFA accused of issuing sudden and unilateral communications in recent days.
