Nasser Djiga has drawn renewed interest from former club Red Star Belgrade after an upturn on loan at Rangers. According to Sport Klub, the Serbian side want him back this summer.

The Wolves defender joined Rangers last summer after then-manager Vitor Pereira judged chances at Molineux could be limited. His start at Ibrox was testing, but recent displays have suggested immediate value rather than mere development.

He earned an 8/10 against Aberdeen and has looked far more secure under Danny Rohl than he did under Russell Martin earlier in the campaign. A steadier run has pushed him into the defensive picture during Rangers’ title pursuit.

Red Star sold Djiga to Wolves just over a year ago in a £10 million deal, and the report indicates their hierarchy are confident of reaching an agreement with Wolves.

“I’d like to see him stay at Rangers longer now. It’s a fantastic club for him,” he told the Daily Record. “For Nasser, in the future he can go back to play in the Premier League. But I say to young players all the time, it’s no good for your career to change clubs seven times or make seven loan moves.”

Any decision sits with Wolves, who hold his contract. They could integrate him, sell to Rangers or sanction a Red Star return. His physical profile points to comfort in the Championship, and surely Rob Edwards will want to assess him before any call.
