Cesar Peixoto has been appointed Wolves head coach on a two-year deal, with executive chairman Nathan Shi backing the 46-year-old and saying he has the character for the role.
ExpressAndStar.com reports that Peixoto replaces the axed Rob Edwards and will be tasked with leading Wolves back into the Premier League at the first attempt.
The Portuguese has yet to coach outside his homeland, finishing sixth in the top flight last season with Gil Vicente.
Shi said talks quickly convinced the club he has the qualities they value, including a clear identity, strong leadership and real hunger to succeed.
He highlighted Peixoto’s mentality, work ethic and readiness to embrace the challenge, describing him as young, energetic and ambitious, but also thoughtful and accountable.
Shi added that Peixoto is willing to challenge himself and those around him in pursuit of improvement, and believes he will be an excellent fit for Wolves’ culture and vision.
