Nazariy Rusyn has played down speculation over a move from Sunderland and says he could yet see out the final year of his deal.
The Ukrainian forward scored four goals on loan at Arka Gdynia in the second half of last season and is due back for pre-season. Sport.ua claimed Sunderland had agreed a fee with FC Karpaty Lviv and that a deal could be concluded in the coming days.
“I don’t deal with this issue, so I can’t say anything specific right now. I’m currently waiting for the end of my contract with Arka, which ends on June 30.” He told Ukrainian Football.
“I only know that I have to be in Sunderland on July 4, because that’s when our training camp starts. So I’m flying to England on July 1.”
Rusyn joined from Zorya Luhansk in summer 2023 and endured a difficult first season. He said staying remains possible, adding: “Yes, of course. I don’t rule it out.” He has not yet spoken to head coach Régis Le Bris.
