Nazinho is set to join Monaco from Cercle Bruges on a four-year contract in a transfer worth five million euros.
According to L'Équipe, Monaco and the Belgian club have a provisional agreement, with the 22-year-old Portuguese left-back due to take a medical next week before finalising the move. He should become the Principality side’s first arrival of the summer.
Given Cercle Bruges are owned by Monaco, negotiations were straightforward. The move reflects a strategy that uses Bruges as a pathway for high-potential players to develop before stepping up to the Principality when judged ready.
Paris Brunner, 20 and German, fits that model, although he has yet to show his full range at ASM.
It is not impossible that French forward Steve Ngoura, 21, could follow the same route in future.
