The Roman club steps up its pursuit with an improved €25 million offer for the Moroccan midfielder.

AS Roma is not giving up on Neil El Aynaoui. The Italian club submitted a second proposal to RC Lens on July 17, but failed to shift the stance of the Lens management, who remain firm in their demands.
Neil El Aynaoui has been the subject of persistent interest from AS Roma. The Serie A side, who have been tracking him for several weeks, already made an initial offer in an effort to convince RC Lens to part ways with their Moroccan midfielder. That bid (€20 million plus €1 million in bonuses) was rejected. The Italian club has now returned with renewed determination after reaching a five-year contract agreement with the player.
Roma hoped to break the deadlock by putting forward a slightly higher offer, one that comes closer to the expectations of the Blood and Gold. However, no agreement has been struck between the two clubs. Lens' management is carefully reviewing the details of this improved proposal. It should be noted that the Blood and Gold are not particularly keen to let Neil El Aynaoui go.
"If Neil El Aynaoui had been in a position to leave, he wouldn’t have played a single minute of that match against Standard Liège. The answer is between the lines, it’s quite clear," said RC Lens coach Pierre Sage last Saturday.
