Nelson Deossa has re-emerged on Club América’s radar amid mounting uncertainty over his future at Real Betis. It is all but confirmed he will not remain with the Spanish club.
According to El Desmarque, Betis had been negotiating a sale to Brazil’s Vasco da Gama for around €12 million, but the player has paused that move while contract terms are unresolved. The report adds that he has reopened conversations with América and River Plate to hear their proposals.
América’s interest dates back to 2024, though a switch never materialised before Deossa joined Betis, which cooled the links at the time.
Those close to the move believe Deossa has the quality for América, and he is understood to be admired by Guillermo Almada, the club’s new head coach.
Even so, a deal looks complicated given an expected price of about $14 million, a figure the club are unlikely to meet for one player. As things stand, América have yet to make a signing, with less than two weeks until the tournament begins.
