At 44, Botafogo-PB playmaker Nenê is chasing a first state title in almost 10 years, with his club in the Campeonato Paraibano final. His last such success came with Vasco in 2016.

According to Globo.com, he was pivotal that year, ending the Campeonato Carioca as Vasco's second-top scorer with seven goals, behind Riascos on nine. Vasco beat Botafogo 1-0 in the first leg of the final, then drew 1-1 to seal the crown.

That 2016 Carioca remains Vasco's last major trophy, with the club now enduring the longest barren run in their history.

Nenê has helped put Botafogo-PB in control of this year's decider, a 2-1 away win at Sousa in the first leg giving the Alvinegro da Estrela Vermelha the cushion of needing only a draw at home.

A win would also end the club's own wait, as their most recent Paraibano triumph was in 2019 when they beat Campinense in the final.

The return leg is set for Saturday 21 at 16h45 at Estádio Almeidão in João Pessoa, with live coverage on TVs Cabo Branco and Paraíba.
