Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is unwilling to let yesterday’s Supercoppa Italiana fiasco dampen his spirits.

During his interview with Radio Serie A via FCInterNews, El Toro reiterated his commitment to the Nerazzurri jersey.

The 27-year-old scored the opening goal in last night’s final, yet AC Milan broke Inter’s hearts, emerging victorious at the final whistle.

When Mehdi Taremi made it 2-0 early in the second half, it looked like Inter would claim a fourth successive title.

However, Simone Inzaghi’s team fell apart afterward, allowing Milan to turn the tables on them.

Indeed, goals from Theo Hernandez, Christian Pulisic, and Tammy Abraham inspired the Rossoneri to a 3-2 win.

Despite suffering a rare grand-final heartbreak, Lautaro stays positive and insists on his loyalty to the Nerazzurri colors.

“I said everything to my teammates in the locker room,” El Toro admitted.

“It stays in there because whatever I say to them comes naturally in the moment.

“The only thing I can share is that I’m proud to wear this jersey, to defend it, and to have the teammates I do.

“We must not lower our heads.

“We need to fight with our heads held high on all fronts for the goals we’ve set.”

Moreover, Lautaro thanked Inter fans for their raucous support in Riyadh.

“I thank them because they are always by our side,” he added.

“Even though we weren’t in Italy today, their support could still be felt. I send them all a kiss.”

The Argentine superstar shone in Marcus Thuram’s absence.

Though Inter lost the final, Lautaro’s potential return to form could be a season-defining moment.

More importantly, Taremi finally demonstrated his class, showing Inzaghi he can cover for Thuram when needed.

Hopefully, the Frenchman will return to fitness soon.
