Netflix revisits Knysna as Raymond Domenech diary and Patrice Évra lead the tale | OneFootball

Netflix has released the documentary Le bus, les Bleus en grève, revisiting France’s player strike at the 2010 World Cup. Patrice Évra and Raymond Domenech drive the narrative.

According to L'Équipe, the 79-minute film arrived late after a director change. It retraces 20 June 2010, when the squad boycotted training over Nicolas Anelka’s expulsion following a half-time row in the 0-2 defeat by Mexico.

Few insiders speak, yet Domenech, Évra and former press officer François Manardo carry it. Domenech supplies his full World Cup diary, laced with stinging lines about Thierry Henry, Yoann Gourcuff, William Gallas and Anelka, and a caustic post-strike entry.

Évra says that after the 0-0 opener with Uruguay he sought dialogue with Domenech, who spoke of sacrificing Gourcuff and vowed to drop him. The claim, Évra adds, sent the dressing room into alarm.

Two reporters recount being tipped off by a TV colleague about the dressing-room clash, checking contacts, then publishing. Their editor describes three front-page options, from a cautious line to printing the alleged slur in full.

In the film, Domenech and Évra insist they did not hear Anelka insult the coach. In 2011, L’Équipe was acquitted in Anelka’s lawsuit and he did not appeal, with written testimonies filed, a detail the film omits.

Sent by President Nicolas Sarkozy, Sports Minister Roselyne Bachelot met players without staff, a move Domenech resented. Évra and Bacary Sagna recall tears, then Bachelot condemned what she called immature gang leaders in parliament, which the squad saw as betrayal.
