Real Madrid may not have officially announced the signing of Denzel Dumfries yet, but the Dutch defender has seemingly added fuel to the growing belief that his move to the Santiago Bernabeu is already completed.

The 30-year-old Inter Milan full-back has been heavily linked with Los Blancos, with Florentino Perez later confirming the move in the build-up to the presidential elections. 

It must be remembered that Real Madrid paid €20 million to secure the Dutch right-back, who is expected to strengthen a position that has been under review for some time.

While the club has yet to release any official confirmation, a recent social media interaction has generated considerable attention.

Dumfries’ Instagram response sparks excitement

As such, Dumfries is one of the players already lined up to join Real Madrid this summer alongside Ibrahima Konate as part of Mourinho’s squad rebuild.

The strongest indication yet may have come from the player himself.

Dumfries’ former youth club VV Smitshoek published a celebratory message on social media congratulating the defender on what they described as his move to Real Madrid.

The post read, “From Smitshoek to the Santiago Bernabéu. For eight years, he graced our pitches as a youth player, dreaming of the top flight, and took his first steps in football at VV Smitshoek. 

“Today, Denzel Dumfries has signed for Real Madrid. A wonderful milestone in an impressive career and an inspiration to all the young people who train and play with us every week. 

“Dreams start somewhere. For Denzel, it started here, at VV Smitshoek. We are incredibly proud of what he has achieved and wish him the very best of luck in Madrid!”

What made the situation even more intriguing was Dumfries’ own reaction. Rather than distancing himself from the post or correcting the information, the defender responded with a simple: “Thank you very much.”
