When the season is over, the transfer period starts - and transfers and market values become the most interersting things in the world of football.
Transfermarkt, famous for their evaluations of players' market values, have announced a new list of market values for around 500 players from the 2. Bundesliga - here are the most important and biggest changes.
The biggest winner of the update was Nicolò Tresoldi from Hannover 96. The talented striker will move to Club Brugge for next season, who payed €7 million for his services. Tresoldi has shown his potential numerous times in the last two 2. Bundesliga campaigns and has even scored in the current U21-EUROS for Germany. His market value increased by 80% from €5 million to €9million.
SV Elversberg have made a name for themselves by being a great place to develop young talents. While players like Paul Wanner and Nick Woltemade were able to take their first professional steps here in the past, players like Fisnik Asllani, Muhammed Damar and Elias Baum all followed in their footsteps.
Asllani was the 3rd best goalscorer (18 goals) in the last 2. Bundesliga campaign and will go back to Hoffenheim, alongside his teammate Damar, who also showed his potential as a talented playmaker for Elversberg. Asllani's market value went from €4 million to €8 million and Damar's from €4 million to €7 million. Baum, who will return to Eintracht Frankfurt, is now worth €8 million as well, as he doubled his previous market value.
Nürnberg's Caspar Jander (+€2m to now €7 million) and Hamburg's Ludovit Reis (+€3.5m to now €7 million) are now the most valuable players in the 2. Bundesliga, who haven't already decided to leave the league. Jander however, is eyeing up a move to the Bundesliga - and Reis is rumoured to join Tresoldi at Club Brugge for next season.
Players, who are retiring, logically lose their market value: that's why Hannover's Marcel Halstenberg lost his market value of €1.5 million and is now at a round zero.
Next to him, Köln's Dejan Ljubicic, Hamburg's Adam Karabec and Kaiserslautern's Maximilian Bauer all lost €1 million of their previous market value due to incosistency, poor form and the apparent interest in them by other clubs.
As the season has ended a while ago, almost all of the other downgrades were for aging players, where no new increase in form is likely.
