Arsenal are moving closer to completing the signing of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia, with a second, improved offer set to be submitted this week. The Gunners are confident that the new bid, expected to be worth in the region of £18 million to £19 million, could prove enough to reach an agreement with the Spanish side.

The original approach, believed to be around £13 million, was turned down last week. But with the 21-year-old entering the final year of his contract, there is a growing belief at Emirates Stadium that a deal can be struck. According to TeamTalk, Arsenal’s new sporting director Andrea Berta is “fine-tuning” the offer in order to find common ground, particularly around bonuses and payment structure.
One significant hurdle has already been cleared. Arsenal have a full agreement in place with Mosquera on personal terms, removing a major obstacle from the negotiation process. The club now believe that Valencia, who finished 12th in La Liga last season, are open to dialogue based on the revised terms.

Mosquera made 41 appearances across all competitions last season, and at 6ft 2in, offers both physical presence and versatility at the back. Arsenal’s pursuit of defensive depth appears to be accelerating, with the Spaniard viewed as a key part of the club’s broader summer rebuild.
Cristhian Mosquera might not be a headline-grabbing name yet, but for those who have followed La Liga closely, his emergence at Valencia has been impressive. He is strong, composed, and reads the game with a maturity well beyond his years.
What’s especially pleasing for Arsenal supporters is how decisive the club are being in this window. The fact that personal terms have already been agreed tells you that the groundwork was done properly. Now it is about getting the structure of the deal over the line. At £18 million to £19 million, it feels like a smart investment, especially with Mosquera entering the final year of his contract.
Andrea Berta’s influence is already starting to show. There is an efficiency to the way Arsenal are conducting their business, and it gives confidence that the club are building something long-term. With other signings reportedly close, this could be a defining week.
Mosquera might not start every week initially, but in a squad competing on multiple fronts, his addition is a vital step toward greater depth and sustainability. The fans should be encouraged. This is what proactive squad management looks like.
