Coventry City might struggle to sign Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth this summer, with a new transfer update emerging from the Premier League...
Carl Rushworth of Brighton & Hove Albion is set to be of interest to a number of clubs this summer, including current loan side Coventry City.
The goalkeeper has been outstanding for Coventry City this term, with Carl Rushworth leading the way with 15 clean sheets ahead of Christian Walton and Sol Brynn. The 24-year-old is enjoying his third stint in the Championship after loans with Hull City and Swansea City previously.
At the end of the 2023/24 season, he was named both Supporters' Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year with Swansea. His rise has been no surprise and it could be argued that Rushworth is a future England international in the making.
It's been stated before that Coventry signing Rushworth hinges on promotion, which Frank Lampard's side are mere points away from securing with just five league games to go. Rushworth secured his 15th clean sheet against Hull on Monday to take Cov a step closer.

Signing the best loan players permanently is often something promoted clubs explore. Regarding Rushworth, he could cost around £15-20 million to sign from Brighton this summer, with more recent reports suggesting Coventry will have to pay £20 million.
However, there will be other interest in the goalkeeper, with recent links between Newcastle United and Rushworth emerging. They could also look to sign Jack Rudoni as well, per Give Me Sport.
Alex Crook of talkSPORT has revealed more on that situation, stating Newcastle are more keen on Rushworth than Rudoni. However, Newcastle aren't the only Premier League club with an interest in Rushworth. They state that as many as six top flight sides are currently tracking the Coventry goalkeeper.
Interest is not a surprise when, week after week, the Brighton-owned 'keeper has demonstrated the kind of shot-stopping consistency, command of his area, and composure in possession that modern international goalkeepers are judged on.
After a stunning season from James Trafford with Burnley last season, Rushworth is the best English goalkeeper in the Championship. His Brighton deal runs until the summer of 2027, with a club option for an additional year.

His current contract means conversations are likely to happen this summer about where both parties stand. That comes down to how Brighton feel but also the 24-year-old. In fact, in February, Rushworth revealed he would love to sign for Coventry.
He said: “If the option was there, then 100 per cent,” Rushworth replied with a smile on his face. “I’d love to.
“Like I said, I love everything about the club, how it’s run, down to the people, the backroom staff, everything, area.
“So, if it’s an opportunity, if we do make that little bit of history, and we’re in the Premier League next season, then I’d love to.”
In March, Rushworth stated his desire to be a Premier League goalkeeper. That could yet be with Brighton, depending on the immediate future of Bart Verbruggen. It seems that there are many moving parts regarding this transfer if Coventry are to seal it.
