Alisson Becker was heavily linked with the Liverpool exit towards the end of the season.
Although the 33-year-old agreed a one-year contract extension - tying him to the club until 2027 - that did not stop speculation.
Juventus presented favourable conditions for a three-year deal which Alisson was said to have been enticed by. But ultimately the decision was reached for the Brazil No1 to stay put.
He will see out his contract at Anfield before departing for pastures new and it will be time for Andoni Iraola and Richard Hughes to secure a new starting goalkeeper.
Giorgi Mamardashvili may well have failed his audition - leading to an opportunity for other contenders to emerge. The Georgian, 25, completed his move to Anfield in summer 2025 following a loan spell at Valencia.
He played 20 times for the Reds in the 2025/26 season - only winning on six occasions. And it has led to speculation that Liverpool will reverse course and consider a different goalkeeper for No1.
A report in the Athletic now claims that another Liverpool goalkeeper could be given the chance to prove himself. Vitezslav Jaros, 24, was enjoying a very decent campaign on loan at Ajax before suffering a season-ending injury.
The Czechia international was subsequently ruled out of the FIFA World Cup and returned to the AXA Training Centre for his recovery.
Jaros is not expected to be fit until the early part of 2027 - by which time Liverpool will be weighing up whether to send him out on loan. And the report claims that Jaros is valued highly inside Anfield.
Once Alisson moves on - and Jaros has more game time under his belt - he could well be considered as the club’s new No1.

“Liverpool have high hopes for the 24-year-old (he turns 25 in a month), who was benefiting from a season on loan at Ajax before suffering a serious knee injury in February that is expected to keep him out for most of 2026,” the report reads.
“Only in the 2027 winter transfer window will he have the opportunity to weigh up his options again, providing rehab goes as planned.
“If the second half of next season is successful, the academy graduate could start to come into contention to start — or command a significant transfer fee if he’s moved on.”
Reports suggest that Jaros is under contract until 2028 - which would give him plenty of time to stake a claim for a place.
He originally joined the Reds from Slavia Prague as a youth player nine years ago. Jaros has served his apprenticeship in the form of various loans - making two appearances in the Liverpool first team.
