New transfer candidate! Bayern set their sights on Leverkusen star

The signs are pointing towards Raphael Guerreiro leaving FC Bayern in the summer, while a top star from Leverkusen is moving into Munich’s sights.

The full-back position at the German record champions has been a sensitive issue for years. While Konrad Laimer has established himself as a permanent solution on the right, Vincent Kompany regularly has to make changes on the left. The lengthy injuries to Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito in particular have exacerbated the situation.

Raphael Guerreiro has also been unable to close this gap in the long term. The Portuguese is constantly struggling with injuries and too often reveals weaknesses in his defensive play, which are immediately punished at the top level. Josip Stanisic is currently filling in, but the Croatian is intended for the center of defence or the right flank in the long term.

With Guerreiro’s contract set to expire, it cannot be ruled out that Bayern will add personnel on the left-hand side next summer. And it appears that a name has already solidified at the Isar that is being mentioned more and more frequently internally – and fits the profile perfectly both in sporting and strategic terms.

Focus on Grimaldo: Bayern are keeping a close eye on the Leverkusen star

As kicker reveals, the name Alejandro Grimaldo is regularly being bandied about at Säbener Straße. The exceptional Leverkusen player is one of the most influential players in the Bundesliga. For the Werkself, the 30-year-old is far more than just a left-back – he is a pace-setter, standard specialist and key player.

According to the trade magazine, Bayern are „explicitly“ monitoring Grimaldo. One decisive factor: his contract situation. The Spaniard’s contract expires in 2027, meaning Leverkusen would have the last chance to make a transfer fee next summer. His current market value is around 30 million euros – comparatively moderate for a top performer of this calibre.

Grimaldo has everything that would suit Munich’s game: precise crosses, creativity in the build-up and dangerous set-pieces. In 15 competitive matches, the 11-time international has already scored eleven times.

But the big question remains: how realistic is a move to Munich? Grimaldo has repeatedly stressed in the past that he would like to fulfill his dream of one day playing in his native Spain again.
