New York City FC have hired their next manager in club history, Pascal Jansen. The 51 year old Jansen last managed Ferencvaros, one of the giants of Hungary soccer. Before his time in Hungary, Jansen managed in the Eredivisie with AZ Alkmaar. In his two stops as Manager during his career, the Dutch coach has a record of 114 wins, 30 draws, and 48 losses in 192 games. Jansen famously led AZ Alkmaar to a UEFA Conference League semi-final in which they ended up losing to West Ham on a 3-1 aggregate.
The man’s record speaks for itself, he clearly knows how to win. Jansen has a great reputation around him in world soccer, and outside of the top five leagues in Europe he has managed two very large clubs. He has experience managing in both the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League and impressed City Football Group enough to bring him in. Now, NYCFC has a clear direction on potentially how 2025 and beyond is going to look with Jansen in charge. Jansen primarily played in a 4-2-3-1 formation during his stints with Ferencvaros and AZ, similar to what NYCFC fans have come accustomed to in.
