Newcastle United have confirmed the departure of four players as well as announcing that Fabian Schär has penned a new one-year extension.
Both Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth had already had their departures confirmed but now the North East club has said its goodbye to Matt Targett, John Ruddy, and Max Thompson.
Goalkeepers Ruddy and Thompson – who spent the second half of the season on loan at Scottish side Ayr United – leave on the expiry of their contract although Mark Gillespie will continue at the club for at least another season.
Meanwhile, Targett spent the campaign on loan at Middlesbrough but will now leave on a free transfer.
Finally, Aaron Ramsdale's loan is complete and he returns to second-tier Southampton who he has a contract with for another two seasons.
One player who isn't going anywhere is Fabian Schär who missed the second half of the season due to injury.
"I'm really pleased to be staying at the club," the Swiss defender said about penning a new one-year deal. "I feel like I've achieved a lot in my eight years here but I believe there is still much more to come.
"I'm proud to call Newcastle home. Everybody knows how happy I am, both in this city and with this club, so I'm very glad to be continuing that for another year.
"Last season didn't end the way I wanted in terms of my injury, but my full focus now is on getting back to fitness and helping the team achieve our goals next season."
