It comes amid concrete interest from both Arsenal and Manchester United, with the two sides currently mulling over their respective approaches.

United and Sandro Tonali: The state of play

United were first linked with the midfielder several weeks ago in the aftermath of Casemiro announcing he, as expected, would be leaving upon the expiration of his contract in June.

Fabrizio Romano proceeded to verify that the Red Devils were among Tonali’s suitors, while David Ornstein revealed back in January that the Italian’s agents had tried to facilitate a winter move for his client to join Arsenal, though nothing materialised.

It’s thought the 25-year-old is feeling inclined to explore a new venture after three years at St. James’ Park, due to his desire to continue playing Champions League football.

Newcastle, who were knocked out of the competition last night following an 8-3 aggregate defeat to Barcelona, sit ninth-placed in the Premier League and nine points adrift of the top four.

INEOS are seemingly only considering Premier League-proven players, which you can understand, given how impactful Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have been this season.

There is, of course, little to no chance that the Magpies will let both leave in one window.

Tonali appears the most likely of the pair to actively push for a departure, though whether that be to the Emirates or to Old Trafford, remains to be seen.
