Newcastle have completed the signing of highly rated Dutch midfielder Sean Steur from Ajax on a five-year contract.

The 18-year-old Netherlands Under-19 international arrives at St James' Park after the Magpies agreed a deal worth up to £23 million. Steur completed his medical earlier this week before finalising the move.

Steur becomes Newcastle's third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen and winger Bazoumana Touré, as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the new campaign.

The move comes during a significant overhaul in midfield, with Sandro Tonali having departed for Tottenham Hotspur and uncertainty surrounding captain Bruno Guimarães amid reported interest from Arsenal.

Regarded as one of Ajax's brightest young prospects, Steur will now look to establish himself in the Premier League as Newcastle continue investing in emerging talent.
