In what was otherwise a routine pre-season friendly,Ā Newcastle winger Anthony Elanga had to be stretchered off following a two-footed challenge from Valencia'sĀ JosĆ© GayĆ .
In the immediate aftermath ofĀ GayĆ 's lunging tackle, a touchline scuffle broke out, with the Valencia defender being shown a straight red card.

Fortunately forĀ Elanga, the injury does not appear to be serious.
The Newcastle and Sweden forward is reported to be "up and walking" despite some "bruising to the shin."
TheĀ Magpies went on to win the match 2-1, securing a pre-season trophy inĀ Matthias Jaissle's first game in charge.
