In a recent report, The i Paper claimed that Newcastle United are keeping a keen eye on Aston Villa talent Jacob Ramsey. It has been mentioned that the Magpies are showing interest in recruiting the English wide player this summer.
Ramsey enjoyed a decent campaign at the West Midlands club as he put in a handful of impressive displays on the left side of Unai Emery’s attack. The 24-year-old made 46 appearances for the Villans last season, scoring four goals and grabbing seven assists in the process across all fronts.
The English sensation caught the eye at times as he attempted 1.05 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League but only kept 21.1% of his attempts on target. However, he was excellent with his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 84.8% in the English top flight (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Aston Villa will expire in the summer of 2027. Thus, Newcastle would have to make a big offer if they want to bring Ramsey to St. James’ Park in this transfer window.

Ramsey is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs out on the flanks. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field.
The English sensation mainly operates as a left-sided wide player but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. He has got some valuable experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Newcastle.
We can expect Ramsey to add more energy and depth to Eddie Howe’s attack. He is good enough to fight for regular first-team football at St. James’ Park next season.
At 24, the best is yet to come from Ramsey. Therefore, the Magpies should focus on going all out to get him on board in this summer transfer period. Ramsey might even help Newcastle compete across all competitions over the next few years. All in all, he would be a great signing for the Tyneside club in the long run.
