Newcastle United fear that Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes wants to join Arsenal after his agent Alexis Malavolta linked up with Kia Joorabchian at the World Cup, according to ChronicleLive.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would love reinforcements in the middle of the park at the Emirates Stadium club.

The Gunners want Guimaraes at the North London club but the Magpies insist he is not for sale.

However, there are growing fears the Newcastle captain could move on this summer and Arsenal feel a deal could be struck.

The Gunners have seen a verbal £45 million offer – presented by intermediaries – knocked back, but they believe that £65m could be enough to get him.

It appears Guimaraes’ agent has enlisted the help of Joorabchian to get a deal over the line.

Malavolta has been pictured with the super agent and Giuliano Bertolucci, and both have had dealings with Arsenal.

Bertolucci runs the agency Malavolta works for and was involved in the deals that took Gabriel Magalhaes and David Luiz to the Gunners.

Some have dismissed the picture as just colleagues coming together for a photo session, but the player in question has been dropping social media hints.

Guimaraes is aware the Arsenal are keen on signing him, and the 28-year-old took to Instagram to post a picture of himself alongside Gabriel just a few minutes after the story linking him with the Gunners first dropped.

He also ‘liked‘ a post from Fabrizio Romano that mentioned Arsenal, and it will not be surprising if his agent is laying the groundwork for a deal.
