Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is still making waves in the transfer market, and recent reports suggest he’s more likely to end up at PSG, Barcelona, or Real Madrid than at another Premier League club. However, former Tottenham Hotspur standout Teddy Sheringham doesn’t see Isak leaving.
In April, TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey revealed that Liverpool are still very interested in signing Isak, especially after Mohamed Salah agreed to a new contract. From the start, Liverpool has planned to keep Salah at Anfield while also going after Isak, and that hasn’t changed.
Bailey also pointed out that Salah’s contract extension could make Liverpool an even more appealing option for Isak. With Virgil van Dijk also committed to the club, the Reds are clearly showing they want to stay in the hunt for big trophies.
A previous report from The Telegraph revealed that Isak is more likely to move abroad than join one of Newcastle United’s Premier League rivals. The Swedish striker has been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool, but manager Eddie Howe remains committed to keeping him at St James’ Park.
If Newcastle were ultimately forced to sell, clubs like PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona would be seen as more likely landing spots than any team in England.

With all the rumors about top European clubs showing interest, Sheringham explained why he doesn’t think Isak will be leaving Newcastle this summer.
“I think, you know, he’s absolutely lauded as a centre forward in Newcastle, so why would he want to go,” Sheringham said (h/t The Mirror). “He might not want to change. It doesn’t get much better than fans loving you, and your team playing to the best aspects of your game, and you are the focal point. You’re earning good money and you’re in the team.
“You’re playing at the top level and players understand you and your manager loves you. So, you know, you, I’d be very surprised if he would want to go anywhere else at the moment.”
Recently, MARCA reported that Isak is a top target for Barcelona. But with the 25-year-old reportedly valued at around €150 million, the Spanish club considers a move “practically impossible” at that price for him.
The Magpies currently hold a Champions League position for next season, if they maintain their status in the top five, these Isak rumors should go away.
