Osasuna winger Victor Munoz had a dream debut season in La Liga in Pamplona, playing a starring role for the Navarrese side and earning a spot in the Spain squad for the World Cup. It also looks likely to earn him a move to pastures new this summer.

Munoz has impressed many in Spain with his pace and direct approach, and last month Barcelona were heavily linked with him. However Real Madrid have a €9m buyback option on Munoz, and the Catalan side appear to have backed away from signing him as a result believing that Los Blancos would intervene if Barcelona did make an approach. The only way they could potentially bypass Real Madrid would be by activating his release clause of €40m.

Perhaps the most likely destination for Munoz is the Premier League though. Sunderland had a €25m offer for Munoz turned down in the January transfer window, and now El Chiringuito explain that Newcastle United have made a €35m offer for the 23-year-old winger. The Magpies have promised him an important role and a large contract too.

Real Madrid unlikely to scupper Newcastle move

As per the conditions of his contract, Real Madrid must be informed of any formal offers for Munoz, who they also have a 50% sell-on clause for. Yet Diario AS say that Real Madrid do not currently plan to use their buyback clause, or stand in the way of a move to Newcastle. If they were to do the former, it would be so that Munoz would become part of the first team. They will pay close attention to his performance at the World Cup, but it seems he will likely be going elsewhere as things stand. They also note that there is interest from Serie A in Munoz.
