Antonito was involved in most of Spain’s best moments, looking dangerous on the right flank and also when switched to the left. The Newcastle United teenager also entrusted with taking a lot of Spain’s set-pieces.

Antonito and his teammates doing enough in the second half to deserve the victory and the NUFC winger subbed off in added time.

Last night, even better for Antonito in the second group game.

A cool right foot finish giving Spain the lead in only the third minute.

Then after Romania equalised, it was yet another excellent set-piece delivery, an Antonito corner from the right on 67 minutes, that saw Jon Martin head Spain back in front. The hosts’ defiance crumbling, as then Jano Monserrate six minutes later made it 3-1.

Antonito and his teammate now through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Under 19 Euro Finals, with a game to spare. Their remaining group game is against Montenegro on Thursday 19 June, when the Newcastle United teenager and other key players are likely to be rested ahead of the semis.

Spain are the most successful team in the history of this competition, having won twelve titles, they are also the reigning champions. England are next highest with 11 previous title wins in past years, then France with eight.

Spain could potentially play England in the semi-finals.

England kicked off their group matches on Saturday with a 2-2 draw against Norway, then face Germany tonight and then the Netherlands on Friday 20 June.
