The latest Newcastle United player of the month has been announced by the club.

The award for games played throughout August 2025.

The winner this time is… Bruno Guimaraes.

The United captain and midfielder the choice of fans this time.

His performance against Liverpool was especially top notch.

Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton are currently away with Brazil, for their final pair of World Cup group qualifiers.

Brazil have already qualified for the World Cup finals in 2026 but are hoping to end the qualifying phase second in the South American qualifying group to big rivals Argentina.

Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay have already qualified from the ten team group, six automatically qualify for the finals and currently Colombia are sixth in the group. Seventh place gets a play-off place and currently Venezuela sit in that position.

For Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton, Brazil have a home game against Chile which in UK time kicks off at 1.30am on Friday (5 September).

Then the final group match for Brazil kicks off (UK time) at 12.30am on Wednesday (10 September) away against Bolivia, which means not a great amount of time for Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton to get back and prepare for Newcastle v Wolves, a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 13 September.
