Newcastle United continue to hold a strong interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, according to The Athletic.
The 25-year-old has emerged as one of Newcastle’s targets for the centre-forward position this summer.
Strand Larsen impressed in his first full Premier League campaign last season, netting 14 goals for Wolves, including an impressive haul of seven goals in the final 10 matches.
His efficiency stood out, scoring with 26 percent of his shots and showcasing a versatile finishing ability with eight right-footed, three left-footed and three headed goals.
Despite Wolves only just recently making his loan move from Celta Vigo permanent, Newcastle have maintained an interest and are considering a potential summer move.
However, Wolves are hesitant to sell the Norwegian so soon after securing his services permanently for £23 million. They value him highly and consider him integral to their plans.
Newcastle’s need for a new striker has become increasingly urgent following the departure of Callum Wilson and the uncertain future of Alexander Isak, who has attracted interest from Liverpool.
They fielded Anthony Gordon as a number nine during Saturday’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa.
The Magpies are exploring multiple options, including Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and Paris Saint-Germain’s Goncalo Ramos, having previously pursued Benjamin Sesko before he opted to join Manchester United.
With just under two weeks left before the transfer window closes on September 1, Newcastle have multiple issues to address ahead of another Champions League campaign.
