Newcastle United sign striker Emily Murphy following her departure from American college side Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
A Republic of Ireland international, she played for Chelsea in the WSL in 2019, later going on loan to Birmingham City.
Her time in the American college system brought 21 goals in a total of 74 appearances with North Carolina Tar Heels and Wake Forest.
Murphy told nufc.co.uk: “After returning from America, I had a few options but as soon as I was told Newcastle wanted to speak to me I was excited. I have heard a lot about how ambitious the club is, and when I spoke with Becky I just felt that this was the right place for me.
“The club’s values match mine and the project is so exciting. Everyone here wants to play at the highest level and I said yes straightaway. I can’t wait to get started.”
Head coach Becky Langley said: “Emily is an exciting forward player who has impressed Claire and myself for a number of years whilst at Chelsea, Birmingham and recently in the USA.
“She’s very studious, ambitious and a talented young player. We are all looking forward to welcoming Emily to the Geordie family.”
