Magpies aiming to avoid fourth straight loss to Man City and reach FA Cup quarter-final

Newcastle take on Manchester City in arguably the standout FA Cup fifth round tie.

This is the fifth meeting between the two sides already this season and there’s the possibility of a sixth as they are on opposite sides of the Champions League draw.

Newcastle won the first fixture back in November but have lost the last three, including both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final and the Premier League showdown at the Etihad Stadium a few weeks ago.

The Magpies, however, did beat Manchester United with ten-men on Wednesday night to build some confidence as they seek to complete a unique double.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game…

Date, kick-off time and venue

Newcastle vs Man City is scheduled for a 8pm GMT kick-off on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

The match will take place at St. James’ Park.

Where to watch Newcastle vs Man City

TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on TNT Sports. Coverage starts at 7pm GMT on TNT Sports 1.

Live stream: TNT Sports subscribers can also catch the contest live online via the Discovery+ app and website.

Newcastle vs Man City team news

Jacob Ramsey is suspended for Newcastle after being sent-off for two bookable offences in the win over Man Utd.

Sandro Tonali is expected to be fit despite limping off in stoppage time, while Tino Livramento and Nick Woltemade could both be available for selection.

Bruno Guimaraes, Emil Krath and Fabian Schar will miss out. Lewis Miley is nearing a return to action, but is targeting the Barcelona game on March 18.

James Trafford should get the nod over Gianluigi Donnarumma as Pep Guardiola continues with his policy of rotating his goalkeepers in the cup competitions.

There could be further rotation with the Real Madrid showdown in mind with Jeremy Doku, Omar Marmoush, Savinho, Nico Gonzalez and Tijjani Reijnders all pushing to start.

Marc Guehi is eligible to play despite featuring for Crystal Palace in the third round, but could make way for either John Stones or Nathan Ake.

Newcastle vs Man City prediction

This is a difficult one to predict as both teams will surely have one eye on Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively in the Champions League last-16 next week.

Man City do have the greater squad depth at this moment, giving them the option to rotate. That should be a big advantage especially as the Newcastle players expanded a lot of energy after going down to ten against Man United.

City clearly have the edge on Newcastle right now and we expect that to continue here.

Man City to win, 3-1.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

As mentioned above, Man City have won three of the four meetings between the two sides this season.
