Neymar and Gabigol struggle as Santos eliminated by Novorizontino in Paulistão quarter-finals

Santos were knocked out of Paulistão 2026 after a 2-1 defeat to Novorizontino, with Neymar and Gabigol both below par.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Willian Arão and Gabriel Bontempo were the standouts with 7.0, Bontempo scoring the club’s only goal.
Goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão earned 5.0, making a fine save from Robson but looking uncertain on some exits. Igor Vinícius, 5.5, helped create the Santos goal yet struggled in his marking. Adonis Frías, 4.5, began the move for the goal, then left the box and was slow to recover for the winner, while Luan Peres also took 4.5 after aerial and passing errors. Escobar received 4.0 with further mistakes in the first concession.
In midfield, Gabriel Menino was given 4.0, largely poor aside from one pass to Gabigol. Barreal took 5.0, and Moisés 5.5 after missing a big chance at 1-1. Neymar was rated 4.0, involved in the first goal conceded, misplaced several passes and faded after the interval.
From the bench, Rony received 4.0 for endeavour without end product. Miguelito, 5.5, created a good opening for Moisés but hesitated before the second goal. Gabriel Barbosa took 4.0 after a series of errors, including an air-kick before Bontempo scored, while Thaciano had 5.0. Head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda was marked 4.0 for persisting with experienced players over youngsters and failing to organise the defence.
