Neymar was in Guarulhos on Thursday to watch Brazil face Qatar in the Kings League World Cup. The fixture formed part of the competition’s second round.
According to Globo.com, the forward recently renewed his Santos contract and is recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee carried out on 22 December. Using time off during treatment, he attended the arena to follow Brazil.
Defending champions Brazil are seeking to respond after a 7-3 defeat to Spain in the opening round. The meeting with Qatar is pivotal to keep hopes of reaching the knockout stage of the tournament’s second edition alive.
Neymar arrived with security and greeted former player Kaká, who was set to take the competition’s president’s penalty against Qatar. He then headed to the presidents’ bench, a reserved area beside the pitch.
He is president of Furia, a Kings League team that won the first split of the Brazilian edition, which ended in May last year.
Created by former defender Gerard Piqué, the Kings League blends sport and entertainment in a seven-a-side format and uses its own innovative rules. Teams are run by streamers, influencers, ex-players and sporting personalities.
