Neymar continues recovery, misses Santos match at São Paulo | OneFootball

Neymar will not feature for Santos at São Paulo on Saturday, in the sixth round of the Campeonato Paulista at Morumbis, with kick-off at 20:30 Brasília time, as he continues his recovery.

According to Globo.com, the number 10 continued his rehabilitation with ball work on the CT Rei Pelé pitch on Thursday but is not ready yet. He has begun the transition from physiotherapy to work on grass this week and has only taken part in non-contact drills.

He joined the opening part of Thursday's session alongside players who did not play in the 4-2 defeat to Chapecoense in the Brasileiro opener. He is expected to make further progress in the coming days.

He underwent corrective surgery on the meniscus in his left knee in December and has since focused on physiotherapy. The most optimistic scenario has him available next week, with caution to avoid rushing his return.

Santos will finalise their line-up in Friday's training when the starters return to the pitch. They face São Paulo again on Wednesday at Vila Belmiro in the Brasileiro. Gabigol, Mayke and Adonis Frias, who missed the last game, are expected to be available.
