Neymar criticized in Brazil: "It's shameful"
Neymar's return to Santos was meant to be the stuff of dreams. Instead, it's turned into a sporting nightmare. With just four games left in the season, the club sits 17th in Serie A and is on the verge of dropping back down to the second division.
Since his arrival at the start of the year, Neymar has failed to impress. In the league, he has scored only three goals in 15 matches and picked up just as many yellow cards. It's not enough to save the team, which is sinking deeper week after week. This situation has sparked the fury of Craque Neto, former Brazilian international and ex-Santos player. Without mincing words, he targeted the star directly:
Santos is going down. And it's the fault of the president and Neymar. You haven't shown anything. You were just walking on the pitch. It's shameful to play like that.
Neto even referenced the last match against Flamengo. When Neymar was substituted in the 85th minute, Santos came back from 0-3 to 2-3. For him, the difference is clear: the team performs better without their number 10. Neymar's contract ends at the end of the year. What was supposed to be a historic homecoming is turning into a fiasco.
