Neymar double ends Santos' winless start | OneFootball

Santos beat Vasco da Gama 2-1 at Estádio Urbano Caldeira as Neymar struck twice, ending the hosts' winless start and lifting them from 20th to 13th in the Brasileirão.

In the 25th minute, Neymar put Peixe ahead with a precise right-footed finish after Moisés led a fast break. Cauan Barros levelled for the Cruz-Maltino with a low strike (43.).

After the restart, Rony came on and Neymar quickly restored the advantage with a left-footed effort into the high centre (61.). From there, Peixe's back line, marshalled by Adonis Frias, held firm.

Leo Jardim kept the Cruz-Maltino in touch, denying Neymar before the interval and tipping away Gabriel Menino late on. Gabriel Brazão also made a key first half stop from Nuno Moreira.

Cruz-Maltino tallied 16 attempts but hit the target only twice despite 59.3% possession. Peixe fashioned eight attempts and found four on target.
