Neymar says he no longer plans to play for Brazil, indicating his international cycle is over after the 2026 World Cup.

Aged 34, he recently returned to Santos after a post-tournament break, scoring twice against Chapecoense on Saturday. According to Diario Do Peixe, he then spoke after Santos sealed a Copa Sudamericana last 16 place with a 4-2 win over Universidad Central on Tuesday.

He said he had made history with Brazil, lived a lot, gave everything and always fought for the shirt, but believes his moment has passed following the last-16 defeat to Norway.

First called up in 2010, he earned 139 caps, scored 80 goals and supplied 59 assists, becoming Brazil’s all-time leading scorer.

He featured at four World Cups, lifted the 2013 Confederations Cup and claimed Olympic gold at Rio 2016.
