Neymar to stay in Brazil’s World Cup squad despite calf injury | OneFootball

Carlo Ancelotti says Neymar will remain in Brazil’s World Cup squad despite a calf injury and will not be replaced. He added the 26 selected will stay together.

Neymar was a surprise pick for the tournament, which runs from 11 June to 19 July in the United States, Canada and Mexico, according to L'Équipe.

Ancelotti said Neymar could be ready for the opener against Morocco on 14 June. If not, they are aiming for the second match against Haiti on 20 June. He noted the forward is training individually rather than with the group.

On arrival at Brazil’s training base, Neymar underwent medical tests, including an MRI that revealed a grade 2 lesion in his calf rather than a simple oedema.

Team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said he expects Neymar to be fit to play in two to three weeks.
