Neymar trains with Santos after unauthorised exit, in squad for Sudamericana tie | OneFootball

Neymar trained with Santos at CT Rei Pelé on Monday and has been included in the squad to face Universidad Central in the Sudamericana at Vila Belmiro, following a 4-1 first-leg win.

According to Globo.com, he returned a day after leaving Sunday’s session without club authorisation and without completing the planned work. His father watched the session and met club officials.

The episode came after his conduct at half-time of Saturday’s draw with Chapecoense at Vila Belmiro angered players, coaching staff and directors. Neymar denies the accusations.

The report said he addressed midfielder Gabriel Bontempo and centre-back João Ananias in a disrespectful tone, including an insult towards Bontempo and a jibe that he would face Chapecoense, bottom of the Brasileirão, in Serie B next year. His words to Ananias reportedly questioned the defender’s ability after an own goal in the second half. Those involved deny that characterisation.

For Tuesday’s match, which kicks off at 21:30 Brasília time, Neymar is likely to start on the bench with the weekend in mind.

Santos begin the tie that will decide who advances to the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals against Remo on Saturday at 21:00 at Vila Belmiro, with the return in Belém on 4. The expectation is that Neymar will play in both games.
