Neymar underwent new tests on Monday 15 to gauge his right calf injury, skipped afternoon field work and stayed on his medical schedule, according to Diario Do Peixe.
Internal assessments are positive, with recovery tracking within expected parameters. The medical staff remain hopeful he can begin a transition towards ball work later this week.
Since arriving in the United States, the forward has followed an intensive programme, including daily physiotherapy, managed gym loads and targeted exercises to limit stress on the area. He has also used an anti-gravity treadmill to walk and run with reduced muscle load in recent days.
The injury was confirmed after fresh tests on arrival at Granja Comary on 27 May. It occurred during Santos’ match against Coritiba in the Campeonato Brasileiro on 17 May. He has been monitored daily and reaches the one-month mark this Wednesday.
Head coach Carlo Ancelotti is waiting on his progress before deciding when to use the number 10 at the World Cup. The staff intend to have him at least available from the bench against Haiti in the second round of the group stage, but any involvement depends on his physical response and limited time training with the squad.
He is expected to step onto the grass in the coming days. If there are no setbacks, he would then progress gradually towards integrated sessions with the group.
