Neymar vents on social media over Santos absence at Mirassol | OneFootball

Neymar used social media to address the furore over his absence from Santos’ Brasileirão trip to Mirassol on Tuesday at 21:30, in the fifth round, despite scoring twice against Vasco in his previous league outing.

According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos have placed their No 10 on a load-management plan and he should only be available to Juan Pablo Vojvoda next round. He trained at CT Rei Pelé with the non-selected group.

He railed at speculation about his condition, saying he is criticised whether he plays through pain, rests or manages his workload. He added that people invent stories and that pleasing everyone is impossible.

Carlo Ancelotti, who has Neymar on a preliminary list, will be in Mirassol on Tuesday but will not see him live. The forward still has a chance of a call-up and should return in the sold-out clássico with Corinthians on Sunday 15 at Vila Belmiro, 16:00.

On Monday 16, Ancelotti will name the last squad before the official list, comprising players set to go to the World Cup. Brazil face France on 26 in Foxborough at 18:00, then Croatia on 31 in Orlando. After those games, the definitives meet Egypt in Cleveland on 16 June.

Neymar was on a pre-list in August last year alongside goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão, but neither was selected. He made his season debut after an arthroscopy in late December, coming on at half-time in a rout of Velo Clube. He later started in the defeat to Novorizontino at the Jorjão, which ended Santos’ state campaign.
