Nuno Mendes was pushed higher up and showed real audacity, returning a goal and an assist as PSG beat Nice 4-0 on Saturday. Elye Wahi had little to work with and did not make enough of his few openings.

L'Équipe’s player ratings highlighted stark contrasts. Y. Diouf was wrong-footed from the spot and later beaten from eight metres by Désiré Doué. He saved with his face at 63 to delay 3-0, before Dro struck at 81 and the fourth arrived on 85.

An. Mendy held firm early, though he was oddly absent when J. Bah cleared a Kvaratskhelia header off the line at 37. Bah was then caught out on Doué’s goal. Dante was tidy but short defensively, then went off for Ali Abdi at 72 as left wing-back.

Clauss was the most accurate and consistent, delivering several inviting crosses but drifting defensively. Youssouf Ndayishimiye’s first start in a year ended with a deserved red card for a dangerous foul on Lee at 61. Bard was below his usual level and dropped deeper after the dismissal.

Sanson’s inadvertent handball on a Doué shot yielded the penalty, and Nuno Mendes hurt him again on PSG’s second. Boudaoui offered only defensive running and no attacking impact. Sofiane Diop tried plenty but his error count soared, then Boudache replaced him at 65.

Up front, Wahi was starved of service and could have been bolder in one-on-ones, before Kevin Carlos came on at 72. Puel’s 3-5-2 made sense, though starting Ndayishimiye proved costly.
